Resources For Online Students: Streaming Videos

This guide will help students find the resources they need to succeed in online classes.

Help With Videos

To find streaming videos in the LSCS databases on a personal device, you will need to enter the 14-digit library barcode located on the back of your Lone Star ID/ library card. If you do not have a Lone Star ID/ library card, use your MyLoneStar username and password by clicking the link below the barcode login (see the "How To Log In To A Database" box below). If you want to get a library barcode, fill out the Library Card Request Form.

Streaming Video Databases

For off-campus access to these streaming videos from the lists below, enter your 14-digit library barcode number located on the back of your college ID/ library card when prompted.  No college ID or library card? Use your myLoneStar username and password by clicking the link below the barcode login.

  • Academic Video Online: Premium 
    (Alexander Street Press) Full-length videos on various topics, documentaries, instructional materials and limited historical news reports.
  • Films on Demand
    (Films Media Group) High-quality, educational streaming video from companies such as Films for the Humanities, BBC, and PBS.
  • Kanopy
    (Kanopy) Classic cinema, independent films, and top documentaries in streaming video. Includes Media Education Foundation Collection.

  • Nursing Education in Video
    (Alexander Street Press) Videos created by Medcom-Trainex specifically for the education and training of nurses, nursing assistants, and other healthcare workers. Login to create a playlist to share or embed videos or static links to videos in online courses.

How To Find A Database

To find a database, go to https://www.lonestar.edu/library/article-databases.htm and choose from the list of subjects. If you are not sure how to get to a database that you can search, click on the document below.

 

How To Log In To A Database

Once you have clicked on the title of a database, you will be asked to log in. You can log in with either your Library Barcode OR your myLoneStar Username & Password.
